International model living in London to stay-at-home, suburban Los Angeles mom: my life in a nutshell. Living abroad I had become accustomed to being snapped by paparazzi, brushing shoulders with the likes of Kate Moss, popping up on magazine covers and storefronts around London, galavanting across the globe to shoot on the world’s most beautiful beaches, summers in Paris, work trips to New York, and having my makeup done by true artists such as Charlotte Tilbury. As I settled into life as a wife and mother, I went from Nights out to nights in. 5 star restaurants every night to cooking at home 5 nights a week. Party dresses to drool-covered sweats. I went from receiving the best insider beauty and hair tips on set from veteran industry pros to just being happy if my teeth were brushed.
My true loves were always fashion and beauty, both of which were fed daily by my previous work experience. As I transitioned to married life and motherhood in quiet suburbia, I felt a world away from my previous life and soon I was faced with a decision: I could lose myself to motherhood or I could bring my two worlds together. This blog came into being as a direct response to that dilemma and has become almost a return to self; a rediscovery of everything I am in love with and let me tell you, there is so much!
As I wholeheartedly took on wifehood, I discovered a new love: cooking. The catch? My husband suffers from a strong genetic predisposition to heart disease. In other words, despite having a relatively normal cholesterol level, we had to reduce it to an absurdly low number in order to combat his genetics. It was like learning to cook all over again! How do you bake without egg yolks and butter? You can! How do you cook and entire Thanksgiving dinner without butter? You can. I did. After just one year of cooking like this, we lowered his cholesterol by 30% and got him to his goal, all without medication.
This blog is not only my attempt at maintaining my identity in the midst of the loud (and beautiful!) noise of motherhood, but it is my desire to share with you all of the things that I love. I am not a blogger, I am a sharer. From healthy cooking, to beauty, to fashion, to motherhood, and everything in between, I want to share with you!
From my home to yours, with love,
Natalie
